It’s not a secret that the best players on earth are often the ones who make the most money, especially in a time when the salary cap has gone to record levels.
NBA players but their bodies year after year, day after day, but they get paid big money for that.
So, after being one of the most underpaid players in recent history, Stephen Curry finally got his bag.
He signed a massive contract extension that got him an average salary of $40,231,758 per year, making him one of the highest earners in NBA history.
In fact, Curry entered the 2020-21 season with a base salary of $43,006,000, making him the most paid player in the NBA.
Crazy as it may seem, it’s even more money than what the Chicago Bulls starting lineup is making right now:
If you add up Coby White ($5.5 million), Zach LaVine ($19.5 million), Patrick Williams ($7.0 million), Lauri Markkanen ($6.0 million), and Wendell Carter Jr ($5.0 million), you’d get $43.0 million, which would still be $6,000 short of Curry’s salary.

Needless to say, the Chicago Bulls are currently a rebuilding team and four of their five starters were drafted by them over the past 4 seasons. Some of them look poised to break out and will get paid big time once they’re eligible for an extension.
Curry, on the other hand, is a two-time MVP, the only unanimous MVP in NBA history, a 3-time NBA Champion, a 6-time All-Star, Scoring Champion, steals leader, All-Rookie, and perhaps the greatest shooter to ever set foot in a basketball hardwood.
Still, it’s crazy to think that just one player can make more money than all the starters in one franchise, and that tells you just enough about how far the Chicago Bulls are from contention right now, as their entire payroll adds up to $122,560,746, which is less than three times Curry’s salary for this season.
