Ayesha Curry reveals she lost 35 pounds during pregnancy thanks to Steph’s emotional shock, really?

As a restaurateur, chef, NBA wife, mom of three, magazine maven, creator of an adorable cookware line and New York Times best-selling author (whew!), Ayesha Curry clearly has a full plate.

But amidst her go-go-go lifestyle the past few years, her own wellbeing began to fall down the priority list.

So the 31-year-old multitalented mama decided to make small changes that have really added up since March.

After losing 35 pounds, Curry teamed up with Fitbit Premium to share more about how she made it happen.

“I started my fitness journey because I wanted to be strong and healthy for myself and the people who depend on me.

But it was important that I did it my way, which meant I needed working out to fit in my life, NOT take me away from it,” Curry captioned an Instagram photo.

“So I went to work finding ways to incorporate healthy habits into my busy schedule, and picked up a few tricks along the way.”

Curry now tracks her food intake using the Fitbit app, and revealed to Yahoo Canada Lifestyle that she tries to sip on at least 32 ounces of cucumber and lemon water before noon each day to stay hydrated.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Curry for the October issue of EatingWell in advance of the release of her next cookbook (which you can pre-order now, The Full Plate: Flavor- Filled, Easy Recipes for Families with No Time and a Lot to Do; $21.49, amazon.com). She told us that a normal weekday starts with coffee and includes plenty of veggies, protein and whole grains. But she’s not about eliminating all indulgences—even during her weight-loss mission.

“I typically will indulge in a cocktail or a glass of wine while I’m cooking dinner for the kids,” Curry shared with us at EatingWell, adding, “give me a classic In-N-Out cheeseburger with grilled onions all day.”

She’s also not about to give up one comfort food dinner that both she and husband NBA star Stephen Curry adore.

“Chicken Parm is a family favorite — it’s comforting,” Ayesha told Yahoo Canada Lifestyle. “It’s a fairly basic dish, but it’s also one of the first things I made for Stephen when we were dating, so it’s nostalgic.”

To make it fit her new wellness-minded lifestyle, Curry coats the chicken in Panko instead of regular bread crumbs, and smothers it in a homemade fresh tomato sauce. (Try our Skillet Chicken Parmesan for a similar riff!)

In addition to tweaking and tracking her diet, Curry has been using quick Fitbit Premium workouts at home, which she enjoys so much that she curated a series for the app with easy workout videos including circuits focused on the arms, core, legs/glutes and a stretch session.

Start the day with coffee and water, load it up with lean protein and quick bursts of activity and end it with a glass of wine and chicken Parm? That sounds like a healthy, balanced lifestyle we can live with!
